About Revitalize Milwaukee:
Revitalize Milwaukee is a 501(c)3, nonprofit organization whose mission is to preserve affordable housing and revitalize vulnerable neighborhoods throughout Milwaukee and Waukesha counties. We are the largest provider of free home repairs in Southeastern Wisconsin. We provide economic stability by keeping long term, existing homeowners in their homes which helps stabilize neighborhoods and the tax base paid to the City.
Revitalize Milwaukee is the only nonprofit in the Greater Milwaukee area to provide free home repairs to eligible homeowners. Without these services, many Milwaukee residents would be forced to move from their homes. The majority of our homeowners have lived within their homes for over 30 years, and, over time, health and safety issues develop, due to the disrepair of their homes and their inability to pay for local services. These repairs are performed at no cost to the homeowners by local volunteers, many of whom are affiliated with corporate sponsors and building trades industries in the Milwaukee and Waukesha Counties.
We employ 15-17 local, City of Milwaukee licensed minority (African American and Hispanic contractors on a daily basis, providing sustainable wages.
Revitalize Milwaukee operates an annual budget of just over 1.3 million dollars. Each dollar received is leverages approximately 4:1. A little over 96% of our funding comes from private sources (grants, corporations and individuals). Currently government funding is limited to 3.4% of the budget.
Revitalize Milwaukee is not a United Way funded agency.
